The Class of 2024 Commencement Speakers

William K. Grennon '24William K. Grennon
 
William K. Grennon majored in English with a minor in history. Grennon was a four-year varsity tennis player and two-year captain of the team, treasurer of the student body, and serves on Delta Tau Delta’s national undergraduate council. He earned Distinction in comprehensive examinations and his peers selected him to be the recipient of the Senior Award of Merit. While at Wabash, Grennon was awarded the William Nelson White Scholarship Award, the NCAC Scholar-Athlete Award, the Walter L. Fertig Prize in English, the Ruth Margaret Farber Award in English, the Robert S. Harvey Outstanding Editor Award, and the Patterson-Goldberger Freshman Journalism Award. Grennon has worked as a First Plus Fellow for the English department, enrollment ambassador, and Writing Center consultant. He interned with the New Hampshire Public Defenders office and will attend Northeastern School of Law in the fall. He is the son of Kimberly Kirkland and Bill Grennon and stepson of Randy Reis. He originally hails from Concord, New Hampshire.

Benjamin M. Sampsell is a political science major and a member of Delta Tau Delta, Phi Beta Kappa, WLAIP, and the Sphinx Club. Sampsell served as the vice president of the Student Body, was co-founder and vice president of La Alianza, and a student ambassador at the Athens Democracy Forum. Sampsell earned Distinction in comprehensive examinations and was awarded the N. Ryan Shaw II Political Science Award, the George D. Lowell Award, and the Phi Beta Kappa Prize. Sampsell has worked as a research assistant for Dr. Ruth Hernandez-Rios, a WDPD fellow, and peer career advisor at Career Services. He spent his summers interning in Alaska, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C., and will attend the Philosophy in an Inclusive Key Summer Institute at the Penn State Rock Ethics Institute this summer. He is from San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, and the son of José Mijangos and Kirsten Sampsell.
